    We support youth facing housing instability, food insecurity, and other crises—many of whom are students in St. Tammany Parish Public Schools and part of the Kids In Transition (KIT) program.
  • What kind of help do you offer?
    We provide: Housing Support – Rent assistance, emergency shelter, host homes. Food Assistance – Grocery gift cards, meal support, food pantry access. Behavioral Health Support – Access to trauma-informed counseling and therapy referrals. Transportation – Gas cards, ride assistance, vehicle donations and repairs. Education & Career Help – GED prep, tutoring, job training, and mentorship.
  • What does One Way Love do?
    We provide at-risk youth in St. Tammany Parish with essential resources like housing support, food assistance, mentorship, transportation, and behavioral health services. Our goal is to help young people build stable, independent futures.
  • Are you a religious organization?
    No, One Way Love is a community-driven nonprofit. While we were founded with faith-based roots, we are a registered public charity committed to serving all young people, regardless of background, identity, belief, or circumstance.
  • Who qualifies for One Way Love’s services?
    We assist youth and young adults facing housing instability, food insecurity, or other urgent needs in St. Tammany Parish. Eligibility depends on individual circumstances, not just school enrollment.
  • What ages do you serve?
    Our programs primarily serve youth ages 14-21 who are experiencing housing or food insecurity, lack of transportation, or need support with education, employment, or mental health services.
  • Do I have to be a student to receive help?
    No. While we work closely with St. Tammany Parish Public Schools and the Kids In Transition (KIT) program, we also serve young people who are not currently in school, including those who have aged out of foster care, are unemployed, or are struggling with basic needs. An interview with an intake counselor will determine if we are able to meet your specific needs.
  • How do I request assistance?
    You can contact us directly or get referred by a school counselor, social worker, or community partner. Fill out our Request Help Form or call us to discuss your situation.
  • Do you help single parents or families?
    Our primary focus is on youth and young adults, but we provide limited assistance to single parents in crisis through housing, food, and emergency support programs.
  • What if I’m not sure if I qualify?
    If you need help, reach out. We’ll talk through your situation and connect you to services—whether through One Way Love or another trusted community partner. In Immediate Danger?   • How do you help with food insecurity?
    We provide hot meals, grocery gift cards, and food pantry support through community partnerships.
  • How can a student get help from One Way Love?
    Students in St. Tammany Parish can be referred by school counselors, teachers, or social workers, or they can reach out to us directly through our Contact Page.
  • What kind of housing support do you provide?
    We offer host home placements, rent assistance, and emergency hotel stays for youth experiencing homelessness or unsafe living conditions.
  • Do you offer counseling or mental health services?
    We connect youth with licensed therapists, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention through our behavioral health partners.
  • Can I donate items like clothes, food, or supplies?
    At this time, we are not accepting donations of clothing or supplies. Instead, we greatly appreciate gift card donations to stores like Walmart, Dollar General, and local grocery stores, which allow us to provide youth with exactly what they need.
  • How can I become a mentor?
    Mentors provide guidance, encouragement, and career advice to young people. To apply, visit our Volunteer Page.
  • Can I make a financial donation instead?
    Absolutely! Financial contributions help us provide housing support, food assistance, transportation, and more. You can set up a one-time or recurring donation on our Donate Page.
  • How can I volunteer?
    You can volunteer as a mentor, event helper, or program supporter. Sign up on our Volunteer Page!
  • How can I donate gift cards?
    You can mail or drop off gift cards, or send digital gift cards. Visit our Donate Page for details on how to give.
  • How are donations processed?

  • How are donations used?
    Donations directly support housing assistance, food security, mentorship, transportation, and mental health resources for at-risk youth. While a portion helps cover essential operational costs, our priority is ensuring youth receive the support they need.

    Yes! Recurring donations help us provide consistent, long-term support to youth in crisis. You can manage recurring gifts directly through your Kindful account.
  • Is my donation tax-deductible?
    Yes! One Way Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and all donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law. Consult your tax professional regarding your specific tax situation.
