Food Security
Ensuring No Student Goes Hungry
Food insecurity is a daily reality for many of the young people we serve. No one should have to choose between eating and paying rent, attending school or finding their next meal. At One Way Love, we work to eliminate food insecurity by providing nutritious meals, grocery assistance, and emergency food support to at-risk youth in St. Tammany Parish.
By partnering with local schools, grocery stores, restaurants, and community organizations, we ensure that young people and families facing hardship have access to food, no matter their circumstances.

Our Approach
Meeting Students Where They Are
For many students, school is the only place they can count on a meal. We work closely with St. Tammany Parish Public Schools and the Kids In Transition (KIT) program to ensure that students experiencing housing instability and financial hardship have access to food support both at school and at home.
Providing Immediate & Flexible Support
Hunger doesn’t wait for the next food bank day. That’s why we provide grocery gift cards, allowing young people to purchase the food they need, when they need it, without barriers.
Partnering with Local Businesses & Organizations
Through collaborations with grocery stores, restaurants, and community partners, we provide:
-
Hot meals & meal vouchers for youth without access to a kitchen.
-
Grocery assistance to ensure food is available at home.
-
Emergency food support for those in urgent need.

What We Offer
🥪 Grocery Gift Card Program
Rather than distributing pre-packed food, we provide gift cards to Walmart, Dollar General, and local grocery stores, giving youth the flexibility to purchase fresh, culturally appropriate, and nutritious food for themselves and their families.
🍽️ Hot Meals & Restaurant Partnerships
For youth without access to cooking facilities, we collaborate with local restaurants and meal providers to offer prepared meals, meal vouchers, and emergency food support.
📦 Emergency Food Support
For young people in immediate crisis, we coordinate fast-response meal solutions to ensure they do not go hungry. We work with school counselors, shelters, and community partners to quickly mobilize food assistance for those in need.
