Brianna’s Story: A Future Built on Love

Writer: Travis ManintTravis Manint
Girl with long wavy hair in a car, wearing a purple shirt. Sunlight filters through the window, creating a calm and serene mood.

At just 12 years old, Brianna lost everything.

Her mother, her home, and the sense of security that most kids take for granted.

Breast cancer stole her mom. Then, life unraveled even more.

She moved in with her aunt, but the home was anything but stable. Every day was a struggle—volatile, unpredictable, exhausting. Brianna spent years walking on eggshells, hoping things would get better.

They didn’t.

By her junior year of high school, she knew she had to leave.

So she packed what little she had and moved in with her older brother. It wasn’t easy, but it was safer.

She was determined to graduate.

But determination alone doesn’t pay for school supplies. It doesn’t fill an empty stomach. It doesn’t erase the weight of carrying a lifetime of loss before you’ve even reached adulthood.

That’s when One Way Love stepped in.

From Surviving to Thriving

Through One Way Love, Brianna received:

💙 A mentor—someone to listen, to guide, to remind her she wasn’t alone.

💙 Life essentials—gift cards, personal items, and help making ends meet.

💙 Encouragement to dream beyond survival.

And she did.

Brianna didn’t just graduate high school—she walked across that stage knowing she had a future.

Today, she’s giving back to the organization that helped her stand tall.

She’s now giving back through volunteering, determined to be the person she needed when she was younger.

Her next step? College.

Brianna wants to become a social worker, specializing in teen crisis intervention. Because she knows—better than most—what it feels like to need a lifeline.

This is What A Night of Hope Makes Possible

Brianna’s story isn’t just a story. It’s the reason we do this work.

It’s why, on March 22, 2025, we gather for A Night of Hope.

This gala is more than a fundraiser. It’s what turns stories like Brianna’s from struggle to success.

Last year, A Night of Hope raised nearly $80,000, funding programs that:

✅ Keep teens housed through rent assistance & host homes.

✅ Provide gift cards for food, school supplies, and daily essentials.

✅ Pay for driver’s ed so teens can get their licenses and jobs.

✅ Help cover college application fees so higher education is within reach.

We can do even more this year—with your help.
