How One Mentor Changed a Life—And Inspired a Legacy of Giving

At One Way Love, we’ve always known that mentorship changes lives—not just in the moment, but for years to come.
We see it when a student who once struggled to stay in school graduates with confidence. We see it when a young adult, once lost and uncertain, builds a career and finds stability. And we see it when former mentees come back and say, “How can I help?”
Recently, we were reminded of this power in the most beautiful way.
A Message That Says It All
When Rosemary, our co-founder, reached out to a young woman she mentored years ago, she was hoping to collect stories for A Night of Hope—stories of what mentorship has meant to past students.
Her response was more than just a reflection.
It was a full-circle moment:
"Of course!!! Also, with prom and homecoming coming up, if y’all have any girls who need jewelry for their dresses, SEND ME A MESSAGE! I will have no problem doing what I can for no charge. Any way I can help!! I have plentyyyyy of pretty colors and diamonds and other things to make their nights extra special! I have a storefront with inventory, so I have free time to do things like that on the side. I remember what it was like at that stage in high school, and y’all made it such a beautiful experience for me. I just want to do the same!"
This young woman—once a student in need, now a business owner and soon-to-be bride—didn’t just talk about what mentorship meant to her.
She immediately looked for a way to give back.
Why Mentorship Matters
At its core, mentorship is about building meaningful, caring relationships that help young people navigate life’s challenges.
And the research is clear: Mentorship is life-changing.
74% of young people with a mentor say that person significantly contributed to their later success in life. (MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, 2023)
85% of mentored youth say their mentor helped them with school and education-related challenges. (MENTOR, 2023)
More than half of young people with a mentor report that the relationship has positively impacted their mental health. (MENTOR, 2023)
But the most powerful part?
Mentorship creates a ripple effect.
Studies show that young adults who were mentored as teens are:
✔️ More likely to become mentors themselves.
✔️ More likely to volunteer in their communities.
✔️ More likely to step into leadership roles.
This isn’t just about helping a student today—it’s about shaping the leaders, business owners, and community changemakers of tomorrow.
And now, we’re making mentorship a core part of One Way Love’s mission.
Join Us at A Night of Hope to Celebrate the Launch of Our Mentorship Program
For years, mentorship has been an informal but powerful part of what we do. Now, we’re making it official.
At A Night of Hope 2025, we’ll be celebrating the launch of our structured mentorship program—an initiative designed to:
Pair young people with trusted mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and life skills training.
Help students navigate education, employment, and independent living.
Ensure that no young person feels invisible or unsupported.
This is a huge milestone for One Way Love, and we want you to be part of it.
🎟 Join us at A Night of Hope – Celebrate this launch and support mentorship for youth in need.
Become a Mentor – You Can Change a Life
We don’t just need people to fund this program—we need people to be part of it.
If you have:
✔️ A willingness to listen, encourage, and support a young person.
✔️ Time to commit to building a meaningful relationship with a student.
✔️ A heart for helping young people see their potential…
Then you can be a mentor.
This isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up and saying, “You don’t have to go through this alone.”
🤝 Sign up to become a mentor – Your time can change a life.
This Is What Love Without Limits Looks Like
When we show up for young people—not just in crisis, but for the long haul—we don’t just change their lives.
We change what’s possible for their future.
And in return?
They change the world.
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating this next chapter at A Night of Hope—and if you’re ready, we hope you’ll say “yes” to mentorship.
