Transportation Assistance Program
Driving Independence,
Creating Opportunity
In St. Tammany Parish, there is no public transportation, making reliable transportation a necessity, not a convenience. Without a vehicle, young people can’t get to work, school, medical appointments, or job interviews, leaving them without access to essential opportunities and services.
At One Way Love, we help at-risk youth gain independence by covering the cost of driving school, providing gas cards, repairing donated vehicles, and offering rideshare assistance. A driver’s license and access to a vehicle can mean the difference between employment and financial insecurity.

Our Approach
Covering the Cost of Driving School
In Louisiana, young drivers must complete a certified driving school program to get their license—a $400–$500 expense that many at-risk youth can’t afford.
We fully cover driving school tuition for eligible youth so they can:
-
Earn their driver’s license, removing a major barrier to employment.
-
Gain access to stable jobs, without relying on others for rides.
-
Build financial independence, with the ability to support themselves.
Driving school tuition is one of our largest program expenses, but it’s also one of the most life-changing investments we can make in a young person’s future.
Providing Safe, Reliable Transportation
Because a vehicle is mandatory for employment in our area, we provide:
🚗 Vehicle Donations – Repairing and gifting donated vehicles to young people who need them.
🔧 Auto Repairs & Maintenance – Covering essential repairs to keep donated vehicles safe and reliable.
⛽ Gas Cards & Rideshare Assistance – Helping youth afford fuel and transportation while they save for a vehicle of their own.
Partnering with Driving Schools & Auto Shops
By working with local driving schools and mechanics, we ensure that youth receive state-required training and access to safe, reliable transportation at the lowest possible cost.

Support a Student’s Future
A license isn’t just a milestone—it’s a lifeline. Without public transportation, a vehicle is the only way to access employment, education, and opportunity in our community. By helping young people get their licenses, secure reliable transportation, and gain independence, we are changing lives—one mile at a time.
